1   Link   GI Security and Safety Division (German)
The Security and Reliability division of GI acts as a forum for all specialists active on topics of security, safety, reliability (often summarised under dependability). Special interest groups support scientific work as well as the exchange of ideas between science and industry. The cross-over characteristic of security topics is reflected in the divisional organization providing the basis for cross-functional work-groups, conferences and other joint activities between the SIGs, but also with other divisions, industrial partners and society in general.

Manfred is a founding member of the division, which started in 2001 and was its elected speaker 2001 - 2006 and continues to support the group as special expert.
2   Link   AMBER Project
AMBER aims to coordinate the study of resilience measuring and benchmarking in computer systems and components, fostering European research in order to address the big challenges on resilience assessment posed by current and forthcoming computer systems and computer-based infrastructures.

Manfred is a member of the Amber advisory board.
3   Link   Hidenets: Highly Dependable IP Based Networks and Services
The aim of HIDENETS was to develop and analyze end-to-end resilience solutions for distributed applications and mobility-aware services in ubiquitous communication scenarios. Technical solutions have been developed for applications with critical dependability requirements in the context of selected use-cases of ad-hoc car-to-car communication with infrastructure service support.

The Hidenets tutorial gives an excellent introduction into the project results (you can use navigation to focus on the topics of most interest to you). Also check out the HIDENETS web site for other relevant material (e.g. the project results documentation).

Manfred was the Fujitsu Siemens Computers (now FUJITSU) representative to the project.

4   Link   Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN)
DSN 2009, June 29 to July 2 2009 in Lisbon-Estoril, Portugal, the "must attend" conference on Dependable Systems and Networks, will provide an in depth review of future trends and developments in the areas of dependability, security, resilience, safety of systems, their modelling, testing, development, validation and verification.

Manfred is publicity chair in the 2009 event.
5   Link   SA Forum - Service Availability Forum
The Service Availability Forumâ„¢ is a consortium of industry-leading communications and computing companies working together to develop and publish high availability and management software interface specifications. The SA Forum then promotes and facilitates specification adoption by the industry.

Manfred was elected president in 2004 and supported the Forum work in a number of roles over the years.
6   Link   IEEE Dependability
Sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Dependable Computing and Fault-Tolerance and IFIP Working Group 10.4 on Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance, Dependability.org has been created as a central source on the Web for information about dependable systems technology.
7   Link   ENISA: European Network and Information Security Agency
The European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) is an EU agency created to advance the functioning of the internal market. ENISA is a centre of excellence for the European Member States and European institutions in network and information security, giving advice and recommendations and acting as a switchboard of information for good practices. Moreover, the agency facilitates contacts between the European institutions, the Member States and private business and industry actors.
8   Link   BSI- Federal Office for Information Security
The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) is the central IT security service provider for the German government. By its basic research within the area of IT security it takes responsibility for the security of our society, and is thus indispensable to the internal security of Germany.
